Meet The Developer!
What was the initial inspiration for Colorific?
The idea about creating Colorific came to my husband – Alexey, an independent software developer, once iPad 1 got out to the market. He thought that this device must be perfect for drawing and coloring – it has a big bright screen, you can use finger or stylus etc. In our childhood coloring paper pages were super popular, so he though why don’t we use the emerging technology to do the good old stuff in a new way. At that point of time there were only few drawing apps for kids and they were of quite a poor quality. And that’s how this whole idea came about, he started to think about building a drawing and coloring iPad app for children which will be of superior quality and will allow kids to use iPad’s functionality in full.
What is your favorite aspect of your app?
The app is very simple to use, it’s very kids-friendly, as we collect a lot of feedback from our young users and try to incorporate it into the app. At the same time we believe it is beneficial for children to use the app, as they learn how to use the device, how to work with colors and contours. We also tried to add educational component to it, so in the app one can find coloring templates showing the numbers, different types of animals, professions etc.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
It so happened that the app is very much loved by kids with Autism and their parents. This is how Colorific Team got involved in supporting the community raising autistic kids and promoting Autism awareness throughout the Globe. I’ll give you an example of how we try to contribute: April 2 is going to be the World Autism Awareness day and we’ll be removing the price tag from Colorific for 3 days (April 1-3), so more people can download and enjoy the app for free.
